When to come in

How the consultation works

The records. The whole file is reviewed: imaging, laboratory results, operative reports and medical letters. The more complete the material, the more precise the opinion can be.

The conversation and the examination. We go back over what has already been proposed, what remains unclear and the symptoms that persist. A gynecological examination follows and, when indicated, an ultrasound.

The opinion. The proposal already made is reassessed: does it suit your situation, do other options exist, and what decides between them? Even when the second opinion agrees with the first, what matters is understanding why this option is the most suitable.
Why ask for a second opinion?
A second opinion does not call into question the doctor who is looking after you. It often confirms the proposal already made, and allows the decision to be approached with more understanding and more peace of mind.
Asking for a second opinion does not mean changing doctor either. You can seek an additional opinion and then continue your care with the team that started it.
In gynecology, some decisions carry significant and sometimes irreversible consequences. Before making them, a further view can help ensure that the options have all been considered and that the decision is fully understood.
Frequently asked questions
Everything you have: ultrasound, MRI or CT reports, blood tests, smears, operative reports, letters and a list of medications. Older records matter too.
Only if you choose to tell them. The consultation is confidential like any medical consultation. If you wish, the conclusions can be sent to your treating doctor.
That is a good outcome. It means you can move forward without hesitating, and that is usually the real reason people come.
