Menopause: medical care in Tel Aviv

Hot flushes, disturbed sleep, vaginal dryness, changes in cycle and in mood. Menopause is not an illness, but its symptoms can be treated, and the decision on hormone therapy is built from each woman's own medical situation.

When to come in

  • Hot flushes, night sweats or disturbed sleep
  • A cycle that has become irregular as menopause approaches
  • Vaginal dryness or pain during intercourse
  • Changes in mood, concentration or energy
  • A question about hormone therapy: starting, continuing or stopping
  • Any bleeding after menopause, even light and even a single episode

How the consultation works

  1. 1

What affects your daily life. Beyond a list of symptoms, what matters is understanding their impact on your daily life. That is what makes it possible to judge whether treatment is worthwhile and to choose the most suitable approach.

  2. 2

Your medical history. Your personal and family history and your risk factors are taken into account. Among other things, they determine whether hormone therapy can be considered.

  3. 3

The examination. A gynecological examination and, when indicated, an ultrasound, mainly to assess the endometrium. Hormone blood tests are generally not needed to diagnose menopause.

  4. 4

The options. Hormone therapy, local treatment, non-hormonal options or simple monitoring: the benefits, limits and implications of each are explained so that we can choose the most suitable approach together.

Hormone therapy

Menopausal hormone therapy is considered individually. How appropriate it is depends on several things: your history, your risk factors, how severe the symptoms are and how long it has been since your last period.

In some situations it is not indicated. In others, its benefits can clearly outweigh the risks. The consultation is where these elements are assessed, the options set out clearly, and the most suitable approach decided together.

Local treatment for vaginal dryness follows a different logic from general hormone therapy. Its indication, its benefits and its precautions are therefore assessed separately.

Frequently asked questions

The diagnosis is clinical: a full year without periods at the expected age. Hormone blood tests are not needed in most cases and can be misleading during the transition itself.

Yes, always. Any vaginal bleeding after menopause warrants a consultation, even if light and even if it happened only once. Examination and ultrasound allow the endometrium to be assessed and the next step decided.

The answer is not the same for everyone. It depends on history, risk factors, the type of treatment and the time since the last period. That is precisely the question the consultation exists to answer individually.
